CEMDA, Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental, A.C. was founded in August 1993. CEMDA is a non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organization that seeks to contribute to various national and international efforts for environmental protection and natural resources, by the strengthening, consolidation, harmonization, implementation and enforcement of the legal environmental system.

The mission of the organization is to promote the right to a healthy environment and its protection through the development and enforcement of legislation and public policy. In order to accomplish this, CEMDA has a full-time multidisciplinary team of lawyers, accountant, internationalist, communications expert, biologist staff librarians and organized under a scheme of 5 programs, 3 regional offices in addition to the central office and an area of strategic communication.
